What is morpho didius?

Morpho didius is a species of butterfly belonging to the genus Morpho. It is commonly known as the "Giant Morpho" and is native to Central and South America, specifically found in countries such as Brazil, Peru, Venezuela, and Ecuador.

This butterfly is known for its large size, with a wingspan reaching up to 15 centimeters (6 inches). The wings of Morpho didius are a stunning bright blue color, with dark brown and black markings on the outer edges. The undersides of the wings are a more subdued brown color, with intricate markings that help camouflage the butterfly when at rest.

Morpho didius is often seen flying in the rainforest canopy, where it feeds on rotting fruit, tree sap, and other sources of nutrition. Like other species of Morpho butterflies, the Giant Morpho is known for its iridescent wings that appear to change color depending on the angle of light.

Due to its beauty and impressive size, Morpho didius is a popular species among butterfly enthusiasts and collectors. However, habitat loss and deforestation are threatening the populations of this butterfly in its natural environment. Conservation efforts are being made to protect the rainforest habitats where Morpho didius resides.
